Balkans’ Memory project has been selected

The proposal presented by Ina Expert for the Balkans’ Memory project has been selected to receive support from the European Commission.
The project is intended to raise awareness amongst decision makers in the Balkans region about the necessity of investing in preserving, digitising, promoting and managing their audiovisual cultural heritage. Its objective is to encourage exchanges of expertise and to enhance the skills of professionals working in the region’s archive centres and television channels.
Balkans' Memoryis being carried out in partnership with AQSHF (Central State Film Archive in Tirana), COPEAM (Permanent Conference of the Mediterranean Audiovisual Operators), and HAVC (Croatian Audiovisual Centre). It was devised in response to a call for proposals from the European Commission under the provisions of the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA).
The project will be carried out over a period of 30 months beginning in January 2012.
An initial inaugural conference, to be held in May 2012 in Zagreb, will bring together regional actors striving to preserve the audiovisual and cinematographic heritage. It will mark the beginning of a series of conferences, seminars and regional training initiatives organized for professionals (owners and managers of archive collections) from Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia and Kosovo.
