Mediterranean storytelling: complexities, media response and public opinion
Beirut, 11 - 13 May 2017
Deadline: 10 April 2017
Media can deeply shape behaviours and public opinions. This responsibility is today particularly delicate, considering the complexity of the social, political and economic framework in the Mediterranean region, where epochal challenges like mass migrations, conflicts, extremisms and terrorism, financial crisis are intensely affecting citizens’ lives and national and regional dynamics.
For these reasons, COPEAM will devote its 24th annual Conference - taking place in Beirut from 11 to 13 May 2017, upon kind invitation of Téléliban - to the topic “Mediterranean storytelling: complexities, media response and public opinion”, which will be introduced by Helen Boaden, former Director of BBC Radio, and deepened during two plenary sessions focusing respectively on “New media, narration and public debate: communication in the post-truth era” and “Constructive journalism vs hate speech”.
