The format box

On the occasion of its 17th annual Conference in Paris, COPEAM presented the Arabic version of the book « The format Box » in the author's presence, the Italian renowned TV expert and programmes writer Paolo Taggi.
The book, published in collaboration with Rai, consists in the translation of La scatola dei format (Rai Eri, Roma 2009), an innovative work offering new writing methods of TV Formats.

Paolo Taggi explained the idea and the purpose of his book affirming that, starting from the analysis of the profound mechanisms of the worldwide most successful current formats, it is possible to create a totally new and original program by the use of 100 Cards/Actions composing the Book-kit.

Such a method was also at the basis of the training courses organized by COPEAM and ASBU, whose last edition was held in Damascus in November 2009, addressed to TV professionals from the whole Arab World. The final goal to be achieved was to jointly develop a cultural entertainment (edu-tainment) format matching with broadcasters’ public service mission and with the modern and "catchy" language of the audiovisual product.

COPEAM has been sending a copy of the book in homage to all its members and partners from the Arab World, hoping that it could represent a valuable starting point for implementing new shared projects in this field and, in particular, for the conception of a proper “Mediterranean” TV format.
