PBI 2007 – PUBLIC BROADCASTERS INTERNATIONAL

Digital Revolution & PSB Perspectives

How should the media report on issues of conflict and dialogue of cultures and what role do the media play so to bridge the cultural differences and increase understanding among various communities? What is the role of PSB in bridging the differences around nations, ethnic groups and religions in a world of borderless content and while keeping the traditional values and modes of identity?

These are some of the questions that a large number of Media professionals from all over the world tried to answer during the PBI 2007 - Public Broadcasters International: Digital Revolution & Public Service Broadcasting Perspectives that was held in Seoul (Korea) from 10th to 12th October 2007.

COPEAM Secretary General attended the Conference as one of the official speakers of the 3rd session devoted to «Cultural Diversity: bridging the difference or reinforcing the schism? What role do the media play?», and she pointed out the key-role of an economic and cultural system, that is becoming dominant in the globalisation era and that is axed on the network, as COPEAM has been experimenting since its foundation.
