Alexandria (Egypt), October 12th –14th, 2009

The training on indexation, that took place from 12th to 14th October 2009 at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, represented an opportunity for about twenty archivists from both partner and associate archive-holder organizations to exchange and adopt mutual indexation practices.

Med-Mem organised a training session for about twenty archivists from 10 television partners. The aim was to build-up a shared-access data base of important Mediterranean audiovisual works and digitalize it.

The three-day training session consisted of practical exercises, using material from the audiovisual archives of the participating television companies: the proliferation of killer algae across the Mediterranean; Cairo’s Hanging Church (al-Muallaqah); the old town of Jerusalem; the town of Madaba (Jordan); the Marrakech International Film Festival; the Casbah in Algiers; Bauhaus buildings in Tel Aviv, etc.

To mark the opening of this training session, a meeting was organized with researchers of the Imasud project ("Suds Imaginaires, Imaginaire des Suds" – Maison Méditerranéenne des Sciences de l’Homme – Université de Provence) to discuss and organise synergies to be settled between the documentary, editorial and scientific aspects of these two projects.
