In the same day COPEAM Women Commission will present two concrete interpretation and analysis tools on gender representation: the “Global Media Monitoring Project” and the Italian version of the “Screening Gender” toolkit realized by EBU (European Broadcasting Union).

The GMMP (Global Media Monitoring Project), explores female media representation through a precise global monitoring carried out every 5 years since 1995. Such a monitoring analyzes the news on women produced by all the media: radio, television, newspapers and web in a sample day. More than 130 countries participated in the fourth edition of this initiative.

The “Screening Gender” toolkit presents a research conducted by a group of North-European TVs. Beyond a data analysis, this toolkit proposes a specific investigation of various TV programmes, suggesting different production standards taking into account women’s point of view. Currently, this tool is used for training devoted to television professionals.
