After the joining of Tunisia to the team, the Kantara radio program is spreading out all over Maghreb once a week.
During the week from 5th to 12th February, the first issue of this monthly new formula was broadcast.

From one side to another of the Mediterranean, Radio Tunis International, Cirta FM (Algerian Radio), Rabat Chaîne Inter, Radio le Caire (ERTU) and France Bleu Frequenza Mora gathered together in inter-connection, in the same virtual studio.

On the occasion of this first issue, Hanane Laimani (Morocco), Habib Bellaid (Tunisia), Ismail Ben Kaidia (Algeria), and Pierre Mari (Corsica) have chosen to deal with the topic : French language abroad, appropriation or cultural colonization? Two guests have expressed their opinion : Jazila Boutchich, French teacher from Rabat, and Habib ben Salha from Tunis, who is a professor in the University of la Manouba. 4 reportages (one for each country) came to enlighten the debate.

KANTARA which was launched in 2000 between Rabat Chaîne Inter and France Bleu Frequenza Mora, is a weekly magazine talking about society, culture, economy… building a concrete dialogue between the two shores. Since 2004 the Egyptian and Algerian radios regularly participate to the magazine and have been join up with the Tunisian radio in 2007. This magazine represents an efficient and real example of cooperation between Mediterranean radios ; an example to follow.

• First workshop on Kantara Magazine’s optimization

  Tunis, 20th and 21st  January 2010

  The first workshop regarding Kantara took place in Tunis on  20th and 21st  January 2010, focusing on the optimization of the magazine production techniques.
  
  Representatives of Radio France/FBFM (President of the Radio Commission and executive producer/trainer), of the Tunisian Radio (project leader), of COPEAM (coordinator) and journalists producers of ENRS, Tunisian Radio, SNRT, as well as, through conference call, of ERTU, attended the meeting.
  
  Connection, quality of reportages and content issues were discussed. With regard to the development of the magazine, participants agreed that the main change will affect the structure of the programme:

  - Its periodicity: currently as a weekly Moroccan/Corsican version and a monthly five partners version, it will become a weekly magazine co-produced by all partners.
  
  - The number of partners: it will increase from five to seven starting from the end of 2010. Some new partners were identified and will be contacted.
  
  - Modus operandi: currently held by FB Frequenza Mora, it was suggested that the position of Kantara producer-editor in chief should be rotating. Each partner will take care about the overall coordination during a period to be jointly determined.
   

   

• A new Kantara

  « Kantara », the weekly radio programme between the North and the South of the Mediterranean region has reached a new era. Indeed, the five radios from both shores, members of COPEAM – Rabat Chaîne Inter, France Bleu Frequenza Mora, Egypt FM, Radio Tunis International et Cirta FM (Algérie) – and through which this productive cooperation is being carried out, will be preparing a new programme within the following weeks, based on the principle of reportage.
  
  «Kantara», the weekly radio programme between North and South of the Mediterranean region, has also entered a new era. Indeed, the five radio members of COPEAM – Rabat Chaîne Inter, France Bleu Frequenza Mora, Egypte FM, Radio Tunis International et Cirta FM (Algeria) – through which this productive cooperation is being carried out, have been broadcasting a renewed programme, based on the principle of field reportage, since the beginning of 2008.

   

• Celebrating 10 years of the radio magazine Kantara

  On the invitation of the Moroccan Radio Rabat Chaîne Inter and following the proposal of COPEAM Radio Commission, the 400th issue of Kantara was recorded on Sunday May 17, in Rabat, Morocco. That day, the five partners of the magazine gathered (Radio le Caire, Radio Tunis Chaîne Internationale, Radio Algérie Internationale, Rabat Chaîne Inter et France Bleu Frequenza Mora) in order to record live a special edition on the harbour of Bourgreg in Salé, aboard the superb sailing boat the “Belem”. The international production team then set up and mixed the co-produced number so that every partner could bring the magazine back ready to be broadcast.
