Generation What – Arabic

World Radio Day 2017: RADIO IS YOU


The 2017 edition of the World Radio Day was announced. As a member of the organizing committee, COPEAM joins UNESCO in inviting all member radios to take part, next 13 February, to this global event and to celebrate radio and its impact on our lives.

AGEMI – Advancing Gender Equality in Media Industries


A multidisciplinary European consortium was awarded a grant by the European Commission’s General Directorate for Justice and Consumers to develop an action intended to advance gender equality in the media industries. The project will bring journalism and communication students together with media professionals so as to foster a gender equality perspective within both journalism and media education and professional practices, and to bridge the transition between education and employment. SouthMed WiA project launches the 1st Call for Proposals to support greater gender equality in the Southern Mediterranean Audiovisual Sector


SouthMed WiA, a project funded by the European Union in the framework of the regional programme MedFilm, launches its 1st Call for Proposals. The objective of this call is to support projects addressing weaknesses and issues related to gender equality and the under-representation of women in the audiovisual sector in seven Southern Mediterranean countries: Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine, Tunisia.

Migration needs better reporting: new media competition awards 35 journalists


Valletta, 14 June 2017

The first edition of the Migration Media Award – an EU-funded journalism competition of which COPEAM is an associated partner – will reward 35 journalists from 16 countries for their journalistic excellence in reporting on migration in the Euro-Mediterranean region. The winning entries feature fact-based and impartial reporting on the complexity of migration, its many challenges and opportunities.

An international jury, composed of reputable senior journalists, evaluated over 120 applications – in English, French or Arabic – for the four categories of video, print, online and radio….

“Making a story from archives”: 11 stories to narrate the past and the present Balkans


In December 2016, the audiovisual archives’ executives from the Balkans’ broadcasters associated to COPEAM met in Zagreb, upon invitation of HRT, to determine the terms of a contest open to the young professionals of the Region.

This is how the contest “Making a story from archives” came to birth. Launched in March 2017, the initiative was addressed to young directors under 40, who were invited to produce audiovisual works using the archives of their own organizations, with the aim of promoting the cultural heritage of this geographic…

2017 Public Broadcasters International Conference


Sinaia, 12-13 September

Radio Romania will host the 2017 Public Broadcasters International Conference (PBI) to be held on 12 and 13 September in Sinaia. 

This conference edition will offer to public service broadcasting executives from around the world an opportunity to meet and discuss about media development, to share experiences and ideas on how best to deal with challenges unique to the sector.
